.ERR             Force Error                                   MASM Directive

.ERR

Forces a fatal error during either Pass 1 or Pass 2 of the assembly.

Notes:     This directive could be used within conditional-assembly
blocks or macros to see what is expanded.

The error message that is generated by this directive is
'Forced error', which is error number 89.

If this directive is encountered, the object module is
deleted and the assembler exits with an exit code of 7.
